HSE Compliance Representative
Rowe’s Construction has an opening for a HSE Compliance Representative, based out of our Hay River Office.
Hours of Work: Shift Rotation (to be determined), 10-12 hours per day depending on work location. Travel to work sites and remote locations is required.
Duties Include:
- Support and mentor Superintendents/Supervisors & work crews to maintain compliance with Rowes HSE, WSCC act/regulations and other safety related requirements such as COR criteria and best practices.
- Tour active sites, conduct site inspections, assist with incident investigations, participate in tailgate/safety meetings, conduct periodic safety training, action any items as required and work with the onsite superintendents/supervisors to ensure a safe worksite.
- Some general light labour will be required including but not limited to; helping set up traffic signs, site postings, ribbons, pylons, shovel a small spill and use spill kit if needed and conduct pre-trip inspection of vehicles.
- Provide incident investigation training and tracking action items for superintendents/supervisors.
- Work with Safety department personnel to maintain the employee training matrix and actively source training services & resources
- Work with safety department personnel to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations/standards including; maintaining COR certifications, WSCC Safe Advantage/Return requirements, National Safety Code requirements
- Review and assist with Hazard Assessments, Emergency Response Plan, FLHA, SOPs, SWPs, maintain strong records for projects and be energetic for new opportunities
- Implement and promote the company HSE Program among all employees and sub-contractors.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Rowe’s staff, WSCC and clients.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Environmental, Health & Safety or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO designation) or similar field of study
- Proven experience in environmental, health & safety within the construction industry
- A strong understanding of WSCC safety act/regulations/codes and Northern Safety Association’s Certificate of Recognition (COR) criteria.
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
· Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and General Office procedures.
· Ability to multitask and work efficiently with little supervision, self-motivated
Wages & Benefits: Starting wage range is between $28.00 - $38.00 depending on experience and certification(s). Accommodations may be supplied. While on shift, company phone and vehicle are provided. Group RRSP, Health & Dental Benefit packages are available 3 months after start date.
